This race matters because District 38 deserves a representative who puts the people first — not politics, not a title, and not a career in the State House.For 36 years, Brian Patrick Kennedy has held this seat. That is a long time for any one person to represent the same district, and over that time many people in Hopkinton and Westerly have felt the same thing: we do not have a representative who is present enough, visible enough, or connected enough to the everyday challenges facing our communities.District 38 needs more than someone who shows up at election time. We need a representative who shows up at Town Council meetings, Planning Board meetings, community events, and difficult conversations. We need someone who understands how decisions made in Providence affect our property taxes, our schools, our neighborhoods, our small businesses, our farms, our woods, and the character of our towns.This campaign is about putting District 38 first again.It is about having a representative who listens before voting, communicates before decisions are made, and stands up when legislation threatens the people or communities he represents.I am running because Hopkinton and Westerly deserve a new voice, a present voice, and a representative who works for the district — not for the political system. For too long, this seat has belonged to one person. It is time for it to belong to the people again.

Affordability for Working Families, Seniors, and TaxpayersFamilies, seniors, and working people are feeling squeezed by rising costs, taxes, housing expenses, utilities, and everyday bills. Government needs to do a better job respecting taxpayers and making Rhode Island a more affordable place to live, work, raise a family, and retire.I will support practical, common-sense policies that help ease the burden on residents while holding state government accountable for how it spends taxpayer money.

Protecting Local Control and Community Character

Hopkinton and Westerly should have a strong voice in decisions that affect growth, development, zoning, housing, land use, and infrastructure. Too often, decisions made at the state level can place pressure on local communities without enough input from the people who actually live there.I believe our towns understand their needs better than politicians in Providence. I will fight to protect local control and make sure state policies respect the character, history, and quality of life of District 38.

Education, Families, and the Future of Our Children

As the husband of an elementary school teacher and the father of five children still in school, education is personal to me. Our students, teachers, and families deserve strong schools, safe learning environments, and support that actually reaches the classroom.I believe in listening to parents, respecting teachers, and making sure education decisions are focused on students — not politics. The future of our communities depends on how well we support the next generation.

I believe transparency starts with being present.As your State Representative, I will make it a priority to attend Town Council and Planning Board meetings in Hopkinton and Westerly so our local communities know what is happening at the State House before decisions are made — not after it is too late.Too often, laws are passed in Providence that directly affect our towns, our neighborhoods, our property rights, our schools, our taxes, and the character of our communities. Residents deserve a representative who keeps them informed and makes sure local voices are heard.What happens at the State House should not be a secret. Your State Representative should be the early warning system — the canary in the coal mine — when legislation is being considered that could impact District 38.I will work to keep residents, town officials, boards, and commissions informed about proposed legislation that affects Hopkinton and Westerly. I will show up, communicate openly, ask questions, and make sure the people of District 38 are not left in the dark.Transparency is not just about voting records or press releases. It is about being accessible, accountable, and present in the communities you represent. That is the kind of representative I will be.
